| Jobs program | |
The first round of job-seekers have attended workshops and are moving on to job placement. Would you like to be in the second group of people to have tailored support in finding a new job?
Many of us in today's economy are looking for work. Trans people may experience additional barriers, making it even more difficult to secure steady, meaningful employment. FORGE's jobs project (http://forge-forward.org/in-wisconsin/jobs-program/) is helping transgender and gender non-conforming individuals move from a place of unemployment/underemployment to a working status. Signing up for the program is easy - just take the quick pre-enrollment survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/manpower_enrollment) and we'll get back to you soon about the tailored services this program can offer you (3 skills-building workshops, a jobs coach, connection to a staffing specialist, and more). You can also check out some 2008 documents FORGE created to help people in their job search/efforts: |

National Resource Center on LGBT Aging Unveils Caregiving Resources | |
As a proud partner of the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging, we are pleased to announce the launch of its new portal on LGBT caregiving. Caregiving is an issue that affects all of us-most of us will be caregivers or need care at some point in our lives. Providing care for a loved one can be difficult under any circumstances, but LGBT caregivers, in particular, face several unique challenges.
The Resource Center's caregiving section is designed to address these challenges. Please visit www.lgbtagingcenter.org to check out new caregiving articles, presentations and other resources, including:
- Informative articles on a number of LGBT caregiving issues, from the legal documents LGBT caregivers need, to finding LGBT-friendly home care workers
- Videos that vividly illustrate the issues unique to LGBT caregiving
- Publications for LGBT older adults and service providers, such as financial planning tool kits, tips for working with transgender clients and the latest research on LGBT aging issues
- Links to local resources in communities across the country, from caregiving and health care locators, to LGBT community centers
- Training and continuing education resources for aging services providers and LGBT organizations to help ensure that institutions serving older adults are welcoming to LGBT elders.

Summary Fact Sheets | | |
Summary Fact Sheets from Injustice at Every Turn
At the past several FORGE meetings, we've handed out summary fact sheets, boiling down the 200+ page Injustice at Every Turn: A Report of the National Transgender Discrimination Survey (available at http://transequality.org/PDFs/NTDS_Report.pdf). This detailed report, released in February 2011, is the largest-to-date survey of transgender and gender non-conforming people. It is produced by the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF). Here are a few of the "bite-sized" compilations:
